| Power Coupling and Transmission |
SELFOC MicroLens SELFOC MicroLenses are ideal for many signal transmission and focusing applications.
| Applications: |
Laser diode-to-fiber coupling
Fiber-to-detector coupling
Fiber-to-fiber coupling
Focusing and collimating
|
In addition, SELFOC lenses are extensively used for laser diode or fiber collimation: bar code scanners, optical isolators, circulators, pointers, etc.
SELFOC Plano-Convex (PC) Lens
The SELFOC Plano-Convex Lens features a curved surface on one end facet, designed to reduce spherical aberration in the lens. The result is an increased acceptance angle, smaller spot size. The most common application is coupling from a light source, such as a laser diode or LED, into an optical fiber.
SELFOC Laser Diode Collimating Lenses
SELFOC Laser Diode Collimating Lenses are designed to be compatible with CD lasers and other types of packages. They are commonly used in laser beam printers, bar code scanners and sensors. The cylindrical shape of the lens allows it to be easily aligned and mounted. The Pick-Up Lens (SPL) is mounted in an anodized aluminum holder.

| Imaging |
SELFOC Imaging Lens (ILW, ILH) The SELFOC Imaging Lens is commonly used as an objective lens for small diameter imaging systems where conventional lenses are not suitable due to size limitation. The lens is designed to gather light from an object and form an inverted image at the back surface of the lens. Typical applications include fiberscope (attached to a coherent fiber bundle) and rigid endoscope (attached to a relay lens such as a SELFOC Rod Lens).
| Advantages: |
Small Diameter
Stable Cylindrical Shape
Simplified Mounting
|
SELFOC Rod Lens The SELFOC Rod Lens is designed as a relay lens for small diameter rigid endoscopes. It is usually used in conjunction with a SELFOC Imaging Lens (objective lens) to form a complete system. Cover glass and stainless steel tube are available as options. |

| Lens Arrays |
SELFOC Lens Array (SLA) The SELFOC Lens Array is used in 1:1 image transfer applications. The arrays are composed of one or more rows of lenses. The images from adjacent lenses overlap and form a continuous erect image. The SLA's short total conjugate (TC), ranging from 9 to 80 mm, allows the designer to decrease the optical path length and, thus, reduce the overall size of the system.

CRT Printer
LED/LCD Printer
Electronic Copyboard

Planar MicroLens Array (PML)
The Planar MicroLens is a two-dimensional lens array, which is specifically designed for either parallel processing or image enhancement. Parallel optical interconnections using the PML can be aligned and mounted to a laser diode array. Creating a hermetic seal protects the diode array and improves its reliability. For Image enhancement applications, a PML placed between the light source and the LCD will allow more light to be directed to the individual pixels. This results in a brighter image with decreased heating of the panel.

Flat panel display
CCD
Parallel Optical Interconnect
Confocal Microscopy
Telescopic Systems
Imaging Scanning
Sensor/Detector Array Coupling
LD/LED Array Coupling
